WALRUS AUDIO FATHOM + ARP-87 COMBO
The Fathom + ARP-87 combo brings together two great effects from Walrus Audio for a reverb and delay combo one-two punch of time based effects. Combining two of Walrus's most-loved effects, this effect duo is a perfect addition to any pedalboard.
The Fathom reverb features four reverb algorithms: hall, plate, LoFi and Sonar. The decay control adjusts high frequencies of the decay of the reverb. Dampen is a filter, Mod selects between low, medium, and high modulation settings, and Mix mixes in the reverb affected signal with the dry one.
The X control is algorithm-dependent. Hall models a huge, wide-open space and X knob adjusts the pre-delay. Plate is a studio style reverb with full body and smooth decay, in which X adjusts pre-delay. LoFi is a filtered reverb, where the X knob adjusts the filter width. Sonar is a multi-octave effect where X controls the blend of both an octave up and octave down effects that are added to the input signal. With the X set at the center position, there are equal parts lower and upper octave; counterclockwise movement provides more low octave and clockwise more upper octave. The sustain footswitch allows for long decaying reverbs for super ambience.
The ARP-87 is a multi-algorithm delay effect that features tap-tempo control. The four algorithms are digital, analog, lo-fi, and slap. Digital mode provides super clean digital repeats great for rhythmic effects. Analog adds a warmth typically found on analog delay effects. Lo-fi features a filtering effect that ranges from warm tones to AM radio style effects. Slap is a slap-back effect great for chicken-pickin rockabilly delay effects. X controls modulation depth on all algorithms, except Lo-fi, where it controls the filter width.
The delay time goes up to 1000ms. Delay rate is set by the tap-tempo control and ratio knob. Ratio knob controls the delay rates and goes from quarter note, dotted eight, eighth note, to eighth note triplet. Dampen is a filter that goes from dark to bright, repeats set the number of repeats, and level sets the level of the effect. There is an optional trails mode for both effects. When engaged, allows the reverb trails/echos to decay naturally. When trails mode is off, the effect will suddenly cut off when the effect is turned off.
